Question:

Funky Smelling Fridge? What could be causing it?

I noticed a yucky smell in my refrigerator this week so I carefully with through the contents to see what could be causing it. The only culprits I could find were a couple of old squash and 2 moldy lemon halves that were in a baggy. I tossed them out and cleaned the shelves down with a soapy rag followed by some clorox wipes. It's a little better but the

odor still lingers and even seems to be making some of my food take on the taste. The smell seems to come from the freezer as well. Any ideas?

  1. bologna and cheese sandwich from february

  2. Did you find the hand yet? Could you bury that for me when you find it? Thanks.

  3. Ever had a dead body in there?  no I'm kidding. If you have cleaned it try a combo of a halved lemon ( don't let it mold this time) and baking soda. Give it a few days and that should work, but if it don't it might be something under your fridge. You could pull it out and clean under neath it with a bleach product.......

and don't forget to take the lemons out

  4. Put an opened box of Arm and Hammer baking soda in your fridge

  5. could be mold in the plumbing , the cold air trak

  6. buy a box of baking soda, open it and leave it in there, it will freshen it out. also check for mold or any other cans or bottles of juice, sauce , milk or any food products that may have gone bad, cuz it could be from that.

  7. Clean your fridge with baking soda (arm and hammer works best).  Then buy some of those arm and hammer fridge/freezer boxes and put them in your fridge and freezer.  That should fix it up.

  8. put a little dish of baking soda in there, it should help with the smell

  9. get a new fridge.

  10. If your freezer is the proper tempature it wouldn't be coming from there.

It sounds like there is some residual smell from something that is lingering.Try opening a box of baking soda and put in the refridgerator and that should absorb any bad odors that are hanging around plus any new ones.

  11. Baking soda never worked for me.  I read about activated carbon and a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers.  I tried it and it took care of the odor in fridge that nothing else including baking soda, did anything for.   Check out this link to a you tube video of an episode from Food Network about activated carbon vs baking soda and the product at the end is Fridge IT.    It really does work very well.

  12. Anything that is moldy will make your refrigerator smell bad.   The smell has puma-rated through the refrigerator so you need to take everything out of the fridge and wipe down all of it with a baking soda solution then clear water.  Wipe off everything that is in the refrigerator.  Open a box of baking soda and place in e refrigerator then put your food back in.  While you are working on the refrigerator, take the front grill off th bottom the refrigerator

  13. Keep looking. My guess is you have over looked something that is spoiled. A box of baking soda helps to absorb refrigerator odor.

  14. Open two boxes of Baking Soda and Place one in the fridge and the other in the freezer they work great

  15. put an open box of baking soda in it

  16. BAKING SODA. just stick the whole box in the fridge. problem solved.

  17. Try using a Box of Baking Soda, it absorbs Smells.

  18.
