I know of a British family who had the custom of always giving the firstborn son "Pomfred" as a second name. It went on for generations until one curageous father decided to stop this tradition. The name may just sound strange to you, but it's really funny to people who speak German or French, because Pomfred sounds like pommes frites, which is what we call french fries.
