  1. And you never will. The experts can not say what the temps were they don't know.In a 4 season world there is no ideal temp. What will substain crops and animals would be ideal. And just like your weather and location how do you know which temperature is the best? And for who and What? Will decide that?Man is not in control and never will be of the climate.

  2. See the first graph:

"Ideal" may depend on whether you are a scorpion or polar bear, or (if human) Arab or Eskimo.  Sudden changes are hard for any species or culture.

  3. Average global temperature is tracked by NASA and here's the chart that shows how temperature, and the 5 year average, has changed over the past 100+ years:

What temperature is the most ideal?  Life on this planet, including human civilization, is always tuned to favor the current climate, or the range that the current balance of species adapted to over recent years (say the last 50-100).  Species that aren't well suited to recent climate ranges are already gone or on their way towards extinction.  That's why a sudden change in climate and an unnatural increase in climate change rate is going to have such a huge impact on the ecosystems on which our survival depends (fisheries, forests, agriculture, etc.).

  4. earth have three regions: tropics, subtropics and arctics and average temperature varies between those  regions. temperature changes cozz of nature of the planet ( IT changes all the time!!!). since the industrial revolution (1970's) global worming got faster. I really don't know how much the temperature  has changed.

ideal temperature  for what? growing lettuce? or skiing?

  5. The ideal temperature is that which nature sets, undisturbed by us.  This graph gives you an excellent idea of what that would be.

"If the Earth came with an operating manual, the chapter on climate might begin with a caveat that the system has been adjusted at the factory for optimum comfort, so don't touch the dials."

  6. The summary of the IPCC report that I have shows it graphically, and I can't tell what the exact numbers are.  But the text tells us that average global tempertures warmed by 0.6 degrees C +/- 0.2 between 1901 and 2000.  From 1956 to 2005, the increase is 0.65 +/- 0.15.

Theres some random year to year fluctuations but the increase pretty drastic from the 1950s to now.  In that time, sea level has risen 50+ millimeters and the northern hemisphere snow cover has dropped.

  7. Ideal for what conditions you want met?

  8. We are just a degree or two below the optimum according to historical records. Both the Roman period and the Viking period were warmer than it is now significantly. When they can raise grain crops and cattle on the old Viking farms in Greenland we will be close. Remember that the flights of airplanes that landed there during WWII are still under a couple of hundred feet of ice. When these aircraft are on the surface of the glaciers again then we will be at the same average temperature it was in 1943!

  9. They determine a selected time line, industrial age, some have gone pre. The modulations are represented as post industrial. I've been waiting also, and can hardly wait for the datum line to present itself.

  10. Here is a list of temps in the U.K.
