Furniture polish buildup?

we have very dark end tables that look spotty from our furniture polish.does anyone have a clue how to remove this shiny,spotty glare.also whats a good furniture polish to keep this from happening?

Endust does not cause a waxy build up and neither does Pledge multil purpose cleaner. Ammonia will take off wax but I have never tried it on wood and can't say for sure that it won't dull the finish. If it were me I would start by trying to use either pledge multipurpose or Endust and after a few cleanings I would think it would remove that wax build up.

Ammonia will cut through furniture wax, but do it outside as the ammonia will damage you if you breath in too much.

use murphy oil soap to clean the wood than old english polish

Mayonnaise (seriously).  Just blob on a tablespoonful or two (you'll know if you don't have enough) and rub it in with paper towel.  Wipe off any excess and keep rubbing until you get the sheen you want.  And no, the furniture won't be oily.  It cleans better than any commercial product and will lift all the old wax and the layers of dust in between.  I don't use furniture polish at all for that exact reason.

I experience this from time to time, usually when some one has put something damp on it.  The best I have found is to use old english cleaner and polish.  It has taken out some of the worst possible spots you can imagine

I would suggest using Pledge furniture polish, I am a professional cleaner and my experience has shown this to be the best furniture polish.  As for the build up it may also be the wood that is causing it.  When polishing the wood try spraying the polish onto a rag and then rubbing it on.  Also try to buff out the excess polish with a clean rag.
