Furniture suggestion!!?

I just built a new house that has a Study room with all wood all over(walls, floor and ceiling) and built-in shelves. The study room is on the right of the foyer when you first walk in and has french doors. on the left of the foyer is the dining room and to the front is the LR, kit and PR. I mainly use it for my computer, the kids have their own and my husband uses his laptop.

My elderly mother visits often and has a hard time getting up and down the stairs, so she is really nagging me to put a day bed in (not a futon or sofa bed because she likes the mattress idea). I don't really mind but I'm just concerned about how a day bed is going to look with the Den being near the entrance of the house? Does anyone think it's going to ruin the appearance of the Study? The room is about 13x13 so it will fit.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What would you think if you walked in a nice house and saw a study room that has a day bed in it (but with a nice day bed cover and cushion)

  1. i think it would look really good that is a good idea also

  2. I would suggest a day bed with either just a back or just the arms, and is a darker wood or black instead of white. I like the ones in the links below. They're kind of expensive, but you get the idea. If you do get a traditional style day bed, I'd get one that's angular and wood rather than scrolled metal, because it would look more like it belongs in a study.

Also, I'd suggest a solid color cover and a print cushion, because it will look more like a seat/couch.
