Sergei Fursenko has ruled out speculation linking Anzhi Makhachkala’s Guus Hiddink to replace d**k Advocaat after the European tournament.
Russian Football Union president, Sergei Fursenko, has conceded that d**k Advocaat has turned down an offer to renew his contract with the Russian national team in order to join PSV-Eindhoven after Euro 2012.
The former Zenit St. Petersburg head coach has already signed a one-year contract with the Dutch side, earlier this month. However, the 64-year-old will join the Philips stadium after the continental tournament.
Fursenko has hailed Advocaat, admitting that the UEFA Cup winner has been a phenomenal character on and off the pitch. He added that the Dutch tactician has plenty of experience and will benefit any team whom he will be heading
for in near future.
“I had offered him a new contract but he decided not to extend his stay. He wants to try something new. He is an independent and powerful manager, so he decided to sign at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281. I can understand it. I have a lot of respect for Advocaat
and his decision.”
“Advocaat has raised the standards after joining the team. He has terrific methods for training process. He is a workaholic and very experienced coach. He himself and all his staff is the best in the world. I think http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 can win
the Euros because we the team is ready.” The 58-year-old was quoted as saying.
Commenting on who will he heading the national team after Advocaat’s departure, Fursenko refused to discuss the potential candidates.
If speculations are to be believed, Anzhi Makhachkala’s Guus Hiddink, who has signed a one-year contract at Makhachkala stadium, will replace Advocaat after terminating his current contract with the Dagestani.
However, Fursenko has denied such reports, insisting that they have not approached the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager regarding the managerial vacancy.
