Question:

Further to Trescothick's Confession?

The Daily Telegraph( Sydney) says Troy Cooley, the Aussie bowling coach, has denied all knowledge of the'Murray Mintsgate' affair. Cooly was England's bowling coach for the 2005 Ashes series. Given that Trescothick stated he was 'appointed ball polisher' are we to believe Cooly? Here's one who doesn't. I admire Trescothick for owning up, but not the coach's denial. There is no way he wouldn't have known. Your thoughts?

  1. Well, it is a confession, and Trescothick obviously feels he is in the closet with the priest!

I'm getting a bit fed up with all these "revalations" (another religious reference!)

We all knew Trescothick used mints to moisten his spittle; we saw him drop the sweets, and the commentators were fully aware of why he had them.

And Troy Cooley, the man who masterminded England's bowling quartet, had no knowledge of it? Yeah, right. And if that's the case, Osama Bin Laden isn't a fanatical extremist who currently tops the USA's most wanted list, but a Cuban cigar smoking bugle player living in Mayfair!

As for Trescothick's various confessions: he will obviously do anything for money. This is a man who walked out on England twice, refused to speak about it, had his illness covered up, but now sees fit to splash it all over the Sunday papers.

Bah! Humbug. (maybe that's what they should use next time)

  2. Without trying to sound too cynical, would all these revelations have anything to do to help book sales?

  3. truthfully, what i dont understand, is why bring all this out now? yeah sure it could explain why the bowlers swung the ball so much, but it isnt going to change the result 3 years later now is it.

all this does is stir up more trouble than its worth, if anything, i think the controvsey damages what was, for my mind, one of the best series of test cricket i was ever lucky enough to see, and no matter what is confessed now, nothing changes the result and to me it cheapens the memory of a great series, to get back to the question, if Cooley didnt know it was gonna happen, then Kerry Packer didnt know anything World Series Cricket happening!!

either way, i the Trescothick should have kept his mouth shut! i think that would have been better for supporters of both sides and cricket in general
