Fury and Memory Cloth battle it out in the Makfi Suffolk Stakes at Newmarket
The William Haggas trained, Fury, is gaining popularity for the Makfi Suffolk Stakes - scheduled at Newmarket on 5th May, 2012, where he will compete against fifteen other runners for a purse of £27,390.
Competing over a distance of 1 mile and 1 furlong on a surface that has been labelled good to soft, he will try to bring his best to the track and break to the front of the pack.
The son of Invincible Spirit, out of mare Courting, started his career in September 2010, where he bagged a victory over, Yojimbo by 1 ½ lengths in the Bathwick Tyres E B F Maiden Stakes (Div II) at Newbury, racing as a favourite.
The Cheveley Park Stud owned gelding scored in two races in the beginning of his career and this is his golden opportunity to string together a winning streak.
Fury finished as a runner-up in his most recent start, where he fell a neck behind, Captain Bertie, in the Berry Bros & Rudd Magnum Spring Cup (Handicap) at Newbury on 21st April, 2012, where he was sent as the 6 to 1 favourtie.
Memory Cloth, son of Cape Cross, out of mare Gossamer, is expected to deliver an outstanding performance based on how he has been performing in the past.
Owned by the Racing Management and Training Ltd, Memory Cloth first scored in the second start of his career as he defeated, Messidor, narrowly by ½ a length at Saint-Cloud on 9th April, 2010.
The Brian Ellison trained bay gelding raced as a favourite in the Betfred Goals Galore Handicap at Ripon on 28th April, 2012, and triumphed over, Silvery Moon, by 3 ¼ lengths under jockey, Kieren Fallon.
Over the course of his career, the five-year-old gelding has won twice, and this will be an opportunity for him to prove himself.
It is speculated that Fury might emerge victorious from this, but Memory Cloth will be an obstacle in his way.
Memory Cloth’s motivation and his fiery ambition to win might be able to carry him to the finish line first.
