Fuse problem help!?

i am putting a fuse to the big 3 wire, im putting it in the alternator to battery but the problem is how many amperes will i put will

and my alternator is 70 amperes

  1. the best thing is to rate it about 10ampers higher.

    if its the same ampers as the source it will constantly blow as you always have slight peaks (the amperes rateing is the average over a period of time so it will produce higher and lower levels)

    dont go any higher than 10ampers over as if something does cause a large spike it will not blow the fuse and that could cause the wiring to melt and cause a fire.


  2. 70-80 amps will be great.

    you do not want to go lower than 70 because the fuse will keep blowing constantly.

    and you do not want to go way too high because if something bad happens it will never blow.

    the best thing to do is keeping it in that range, 70-80A.
