Fused switch for hob ignition?

hiya guys trying to order the right fused switch from screwfix for ignition on a gas hob but can only see 13amp fused switch would i just need to change the fuse that comes to a 3 amp fuse instead of the 13 you get with it ??

  1. Yes, just change the fuse.

    However for easier maintenance, I'd consider putting a plug on the hob and a socket on the wall. Saves having two trades in at the same time.


  2. Makes perfect sense, to use as small a fuse as possible, for reliable operation.

    Just remember, when calculating your fuse rating, that fuses tend to blow at about 30% above the stated rating. Therefore a 3amp rated fuse will actually sustain a 4amp current, if there is no surge.
