Fussy Kids?

by  |  earlier

Hi all. I have a 4 and a half year old and a 3 year old and they are fussy eaters. My daughter wont eat vegies, are alot of meats, my son loves his vegies and salads, but wont hardly touch meat.

they are both of kids vitamins so I know they are getting the right amount daily.

Anyone have some recipe ideas for fussy eaters?

If you dont have something useful to say, dont say it! Because I will not force food down my kids throat, just encourage them!

  1. all kids (well most) love mac and cheese try putting ham (the little blocks for salads) and brocolli in the mac & cheese....my kids love it!

  2. Sometimes I hide the veggies in the food like make hamburgers with shredded carrots in it.

I make a one pot meal my fam. loves with

    3 cups of Instant Rice

1can Fat free Campbells cream of Mushroom soup 26.oz can

1can of evaporated milk low fat or regular

Boneless chicken about 6 pieces more if u want

    chopped up broccoli

salt and pepper or season however you want

cook chicken then chop up in pieces put back into pot

I cook the broccoli on the side until it's  done

put soup, evaporated milk, seasonings and broccoli   into pot with chicken bring to a boil then pour in instant rice cover and take of of heat leave to let it sit until rice is done.

  3. Try reading Jessica Seinfeld's book, Deceptively Delicious-lots of sneaky ways to get healthy food into them!

  4. just make it fun. like for your daughter who won't eat veggies, cut up some thin veggie sticks and let her dip them in salad dressing, I find kids this age will eat anything if they can dip it in something. for your son maybe try a wrap with lots of salad in it with a thin slice of deli meat. he might not notice it. it's hard when they won't eat anything, good luck.

  5. try a small dish with carrot and cucumber fingers, with a dollop of mayo for dunking. this is my son's favourite treat!

my son gets bored chewing bits of meat. try thin sliced ham in a sandwich, or just little bits in pasta sauce.

do they eat cheese? chhese is a good source of protein if they are not fond of meat.

if they like mashed potato, mash some other veg in with it.

small bits of peppers, pineapple or sweetcorn on the top of a pizza

don't give them other stuff between meals, they should be hungry at mealtimes then.
