Future Gem, the one to beat in the Brian Price Dual Distance Trophy – Heat 2
The two-year-old black dog, Future Gem, gets an assured nod for the second heat of the Grade OR Brian Price Dual Distance Trophy that will be hosted by Nottingham over 480 metres flat on Monday, 10th December. Taking their chances with the £150
prize money are, Swift Frogma, Summerfield Buzz, Frisby Barney, Mays Stewart and Agile Joker.
The evening’s favourite, Future Gem, will race from the fourth trap.
The K. Allsop trained has just recently started picking up form as his prior performances were not really impressive. The two-year-old failed in all the open races which he took part.
The lightly raced hound has raced at Limerick, Drum Park, Shelbourne Park and Nottingham. Looking at the profile it seems as if the two-year-old had it set in the mind to keep missing races until September of 2012.
Three Grade T sessions had him all set for conquering the two open chances that came in right after. The trainer did not send him to any Grade A races.
He qualified as the runner-up in the Grade OR Betfred Mobile Casino Maiden 480 metres Trophy on 28th November, 2012 at Nottingham.
The favourite entry could not match the lead that the leader, Longwood Bound, had set in order to complete the trip in 28.37 seconds.
It was by the loss of 3 ¾ lengths that Future Gem missed the winning glory.
All energised, the two-year-old out of, Very Pretty, won the very next outing.
The fourth trap landed the Grade OR Carling Maiden 480 metres Trophy on 3rd December, 2012 at Nottingham over 480 metres. The favourite entry set the track record by setting into an early pace and not waiting at all for taking up the leading role.
He rolled to the other end of the wire in 28.26 seconds and defeated Steeple Rd Andy by three lengths.
Future Gem has once again drawn the familiar trap, and already has hands on experience of racing and then winning when dressed in the black jacket of the fourth trap.
The evening’s favourite will need to be at guard from the rest of the lot as they are well seasoned at the level that awaits them tonight.
