Question:

Future Names For My Kid?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I'm quite a ways off from having a kid (I'm 14). It still crosses my mind what I'd want to name him/her. I'm thinking of:

Guy Names-

John Robert

Joseph Drew/Henry

James Michael

Girl Names-

Emma Kathleen/May

Holly Jane

Sarah Claire/Joan

Jesse Kathrine

Nikki Shay

Please note that the middle names Drew, Kate, Claire, and Jane are in honor of my siblings. The first name Jesse is in memory of my deceased little sister. Tell me what you think of each. Ten points to the most thorough answer.

  1. Lol I too am too young to have kids, but I always love to play around with names!!

    Boys:

John Robert- A bit plain, but very strong. Jonathan Robert sounds better.

Joseph Drew - I LOVE it! I really like Joseph and Drew.

Joseph Henry - Very, very nice. I think this flows better than Joseph Drew.

James Michael - My favorite. James is so cute and Michael is really common but I still love it. (maybe cause I'm a Michael Phelps fan, haha)

    Girls:

Emma Kathleen - I love the name Emma, actually I wanted to name my daughter (if I have one) that. Emma would be in honor of my sister, Emily. I think Kathleen suits it well, although I'm not too crazy about the name.

Emma May - I like this one a lot. It's really cute and great for a baby and adult.

Holly Jane - LOVE the name Jane, hate the name Holly, sorry! Holly reminds me the name of a doll, more than a human... Mabye Hayley Jane (or how ever you want to spell Hayley, Haylee, Haylie, Hailey, etc.)

Sarah Claire - Very nice and simple. But like John Robert, it's plain.

Sarah Joan - Is Joan (joe-ANN) or (jo-OWN) ?? I think Sarah Joanne (joe-ANN) spelt with the extra N and E is very pretty. Sarah Joanne, has a nice ring to it.

Jesse Kathrine - I don't like the name Jesse, unless for a boy or a nickname for a girl. I love the name Kathrine, but not this spelling. Jessica Catherine would be very pretty. Jessalyn Katherine is also nice. Catherine, can in a way be in honor of your sister Claire. But I see that Jesse is a very important name for you. Maybe use it for a boy instead?

Nikki Shay - I think Nikki sounds better for a nickname. If you want a common name, then Nicole Shay would be good. But if you want a unique name, Nicolette Shay or Nikola Shay are nice.

This is what I would change some of the names to:

    Jonathan Robert

    Henry Drew

    Henry Joseph

Michael James (James Michael is great too)

    Jesse Robert

    Jesse Michael

    Emma Claire

    Emma Jane

    Hayley Jane

    Hailey Kate

    Sarah Jane

    Joanna Shay

    Jessica Kate

    Jesse Nicole

    Nicolette Sarah

Sorry I wrote A LOT. But when I asked for help on "future names" people weren't too nice about it :(

    Hope this helps!!

    ~Julie

  2. I really like James and Henry, but I hate the other boy names.

The only girl name I would protest against is Nikki Shay, it is beyond white trash.

Emma May is cute, but very common.

Holly Jane is pretty, but i'm not crazy about it.

Sarah Joan - I'd prefer Clair Joan.

Jesse Katherine is pretty, but I like Jesse Kate.

  3. John Robert Love it Your boys will have a GREAT future

    Joseph Drew/Henry Love

    James Michael Love

    Emma Kathleen/May Love

    Holly Jane Love

    Sarah Claire/Joan Love

    Jesse Kathrine Love

    Nikki Shay Love

Your girls will have a GREAT future

    Love the names

  4. I think that its very sweet of you to want to honor your siblings especially your deceased little sister, Jesse. However, it can get very touchy and emotional naming your future daughter that if you were to. I would say to use it as a middle name. That way you are still honoring her but you are also saying no one can replace Jesse. Personally i really like the name James Michael for a boy name and Sarah Claire for a girls name. I am pregnant with a little girl and her name is going to be Madison Capri. But if i were to have a boy i was going to name him Brendon Michael. I really like the middle name Michael.

Good luck, but hopefully you have a while.  :)

  5. I vote James Michael.  That is classy and dignified.  Besides, my hubby's name is James and I just love the name.  John is too old fashioned for me.  Joseph Drew is also really nice, but if I have the choice, James will trump it everytime.

For girls, I vote Holly Jane.  That is uncommon, very classy and very pretty.  In fact, I just might steal it from you.  Emma is becoming WAY too common.  I went to the park the other day and seriously, almost everytime I go there, there is another little girl or baby named Emma.  Sarah has been common for a long time.  Jesse and Nikki are a bit masculine, but hey, they could work if you really want.

  6. I love those, except a few of them sound like nicknames: John and Nikki. Maybe Jonathan Robert would be nice, and you could call him John. Nicole Shay sounds great, and of course you could call her Nikki.(I love the name Nikki) Just an idea. I love the name Jesse, you could also use it for a boy's name, and it's so nice that your thinking of reasons to name kids, not just because you like the names, (after your siblings) Oh, and Sarah Clair is better than Sarah Joan. :)

  7. You have very good taste. I like all the names except Shay. Who says teenagers aren't sensible? (I say that cos some of the adults on here come up with really terrible ideas for their poor, innocent baby.)

  8. awww their reely good

Emma Kathleen is cute but Emma May sound better

    Holly Jane(Y) awesome

Sarah Claire is better than Joan dunno why, just better

Jesse Kathrine is cute, its nice ur naming her after ur sister

    Nikki Shay is pretty cute

    John Robert sounds good,

Joseph Drew flows nicely, ino a guy called that, he's awesome

James Michael would be easy to grow into and sounds nice

im only 14 and these are just my opinions

    Brooke xo

  9. I like Nikki Shay and Holly Jane. I also like Joseph Henry.

  10. John Robert---this is close to the name the current U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice so unless you're a huge fan---I probably would avoid it

Joseph Drew-I would probably use Andrew instead (it still honor's your brother)  I don't particularly like Henry as a middle name with Joseph.

James Michael-Solid name, not unique, but solid

Emma May-Very cute, Kathleen is ok, but I prefer May here

    Holly Jane-cute

Sarah Claire-sounds cute but Sarah is used so much, I don't really like Joan

Jesse Kathrine-tied with Emma May as my favorite on from your list (would probably choose this if I had to pick one because of the meaning)

Nikki Shay-I don't really like this one, sorry

  11. For      names my favorite  first name is Holly and I think that it would go with Claire or (as a      name) Drew I also think Emma Drew would be nice but to be honest I don't really like Joan or Shay. For boys I like James, except maybe James Robert (Like in Radio!) but you have pretty good taste although I think Emma is pretty common... I also like Sarah as a first name Sarah Jane would be nice!

  12. there are to many ppl w/ the name Nikki Shay... I like Jesse Shay or Jesse Claire (just not Jesse Jane) and I like James Michael
