i am 15 years old. angelina jolie and brad pitt are my idols, i mean, i LOVE what they are doing, adopting kids from around the world. when i get older, im planning to be either a teacher(special education) or a news broadcaster. i have aton of names picked out and i have been around kids since i was 2 years old, and i love them 2 death! ive been babysitting since i was 11 years old. I totally want to get married, but its not a top priority for me. What do you think? is it bad to have my future planned out for me? will my future job make enough money to adopt all these kids? (i want to adopt from all around the world) i would love to hear your input but nothing bad or rude please! but be honest. =)

  1. I too am a teacher and beacause of this, a planner and one of the greatest lessons I learned was the best things come to you unplanned.

You see, my plan was to be married out of college (Check), kid #1 by 25 (thumbs down); kid number 2 by 30 (thumbs down again) and living happily ever after (check).

The problem? I married a wonderful guy, but because of infertility issues, I did not actually become a mom to kid #1 until I was 29 and I am now working on kid #2. With that said, I would go through my infertility frustrations all over again because if I hadn't I would never have met my daughter.

So while it is good to have a plan laid out, be sure it is in erasable pen, not a Sharpie! You plan sounds like a good one, although as a teacher, you may have trouble financing multiple adoptions. Good luck!

  3. If Brad and Angelina are your role models then you really need to get out more.

Adoption is nowhere near as glamorous as they make it appear. And what is sad to me is how eager parents are to adopt a child from another country but will not adopt needy children here in the States, worse if the kid isn't a white newborn. Sad, just sad.

If you wish to adopt in the future, please concentrate on the children here, not elsewhere. They need us too.

  4. You sound like a young person who really cares about the world. AND YOU can do something that tops Brad and Angelina. Did you know that the child that Angelina adopted from Africa already has a mother and that Angelina bought the child from her mother? I think that it would be sssooo much more satisfying and tons less selfish to help mothers keep their children. If you think so too, you are way better than they are.

  5. I think it's great that you're planning your future so early in your life. Although, I have a few words of advice. Don't be so busy planning that you forget what else there is in life. Don't forget to have fun, meet new people and try new things. Keep an open mind and broaden your horizon.

And, if you're planning to adopt, through any job you will have to be patient until you are financially stable. Take note of all factors like food, shelter, education and other necessities. It's not going to be easy at first, but it will gradually get easier.

    Good luck =D

EDIT: yeah, the first guy is right; adoption isn't always great, but the idea behind it is pure and just. I like your plan, and don't get discouraged - it may be tough but it's worth it in the end. =)

  6. Wow, I have been around kids since I was, like, two too! *ahem* It is called growing up. LOL.

Anyhow, great that you have goals. You are young and doing what you think is best for people based on the trust you have in celebrity figures. I suggest you read up a ton on adoption and really get to know about it. There is nothing better than to have a parent who really understands you.

  7. Your 15 years old and you will come up with lots of futures for yourself and may even return to some old ones. Its not uncommon to look up to celebrities but don't forget the unsung hero's either like solders, police, nurses, Dr etc
