  1. go to

  2. Taking care of the coral reefs has always been an issue but has also always been manageable. Man has been involved with mining, sewage problems, oil spills, development along coast lines, over fishing and tourists stepping on breaking etc the delecate coral. Through all this, the coral has been nutured and saved.

The threat is worse now and in the coming years the coral will slowly disappear. It is not man but more environmental issues that are the problem. Climate change is a biggy! Coral need waters to be a certain temperature and with the climate change and the altering of ocean water temperatures the coral is not safe. Not only that, oceans are a bit more acidic then they were in the past due to CO2 emisions. Acid and coral don't fit - coral will loose and die off.
