Future of Crusaders to be unveiled at press conference – Rugby League news
Rugby league franchise, the Crusaders will unveil their future at a press conference on Wednesday, August 24, 2011.
Financial crisis hit club had to pull itself out of the Super Rugby League licensing process for the future Super Rugby games, until 2015.
With this latest happening within the club a lot of fury and confusion prevailed, which was seen as a major out-surge in hopes of finding future employers.
However, as the Crusaders plugged itself out of the licensing process, it led to Wakefield’s chance on the future Super League games for the upcoming three years.
This news about Crusaders was received with extreme shock amongst fans and the players alike. Nobody wanted to see them sitting outside the Engage Super League games for the next three seasons.
In order to support their franchise, Crusaders launched a campaign to help their club. This fans’ pumped campaign, “Save the Cru” was initiated to help the club getting back on its feet, which had led to the unexpected withdrawal from the licensing process.
However, hopes for the Crusaders have not completely vanished away, as they will still march into the Championship league structure next season along with the South Wales Scorpions, who have successfully wrapped up two of their seasons after inception.
The Crusaders had come into existence in 2005 and their tenure so far has not been a smooth ride at all. The franchise has National League 2 division under its belt alongside with the Super League licence in 2009.
The rosy picture for the Crusaders was really short term. Soon the franchise was struck with the problems brought the entire graph really down to the point of relocation of the club by the fan-triggered campaign to keep it playing in the racecourse ground
of Wrexham.
A statement has been release about the latest decision for the Crusaders which stated, “An announcement regarding the future of the Crusaders Rugby League team, beyond the end of the existing Super League season, will be made this Wednesday 24 August at
11.30am at the boardroom (Yale Stand), The Racecourse Ground, Wrexham. Representatives from the Crusaders Supporters Club, the 'SavetheCru' campaign and members of the existing club management will be making a statement and will answer questions.”
