Prolific Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews has said that the future of international cricket lies in the hands of the young players who have assembled in Australia to participate in the latest edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, commencing in
Queensland, on August 11.
While speaking to media reporters, the 25-year-old Colombo-born promising all-rounder said that the players who have assembled in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 are the best players coming from their respective countries, adding that whoever comes to the international through
the U-19 platform does well at the international level.
“cricketers assembling in Queensland next month should be very excited because they are the best 15 chosen in their age group to represent their countries,” said the Sri Lankan medium-pacer.
“The future of cricket lies in the hands of cricketers who’ll be appearing in Queensland next month. Whoever has come through the U19s has always done well,” he added further.
The 25-year-old Colombo all-rounder also backed Sri Lanka U-19 side to do well in the youth extravaganza.
“I think our young side has got tremendous talent and potential. It is just that they need to work harder and try to reach the final somehow,” urged Mathews, a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pacer.
“...we always look at the U19s very carefully and always offer our fullest support towards them becoming good players,” the Sri Lankan all-rounder concluded.
Total sixteen teams – ten ICC’s Full members and six qualifiers – will be competing in the ninth edition of the Under-19 mega event. The teams have been divided into four groups. Sri Lanka have been placed in Group D, which also includes http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Namibia-c2964
