Future of legendary German track Nurburgring in Bernie Ecclestone’s hands – Formula 1 news
The upcoming 2011 Formula 1 German Grand Prix is scheduled to take place at the legendary Nurburgring circuit after a two-year gap and the organisers of the track want Bernie Ecclestone to help them extend their deal with the officials of the sport.
“The conditions at the moment generate high and no longer acceptable losses. So there will only be a continuation of the great and legendary tradition of Formula One at the Nurburgring if a future contract includes economically and politically acceptable
conditions,” according to circuit operator Jorg Lindner.
According to some reports, the race at the Nurburgring circuit is going to be the last event funded by the government of the city. As a result, the organisers are doubtful that the German Grand Prix will take place at this legendary circuit in the future
despite the fact that they are contractually bound to organise the event until 2016.
The Nurburgring is expected to take place as the German Grand Prix only for the 2011 Formula 1 season due to financial constraints. The organisers are trying their best to come to an agreement with the officials of the sport regarding some amendments in
their current financial agreements.
The German Grand Prix is the home race for many drivers including the reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel and the seven-time former Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher.
This race is expected to be one of the grandest events of the Formula 1 season and this year, it will mark the mid-way point of the season. Sebastian Vettel is currently leading the Formula 1 championship by a margin and he is hoping of securing a victory
in front of his home crowd this weekend.
Nevertheless, all the drivers are excited to take part this weekend’s race at the legendary Nurburgring circuit and according to some reports, it has been revealed that only Ecclestone can do something about the future of this venue.
