Future’s QB: Indianapolis Colts stuck between Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III-NFL News
There is hardly any day without the Indianapolis Colts being in news since the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season.
Living well up to their reputation, Colts have once again made to the headlines of almost all media outlets, this time regarding uncertainty about their future quarterback, who could either be Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III.
Courtesy of the poorest form during the past NFL season, Colts have become eligible for the top draft prize this year. He has so far been rated to be Stanford College’s QB, Andrew Luck.
Until very recently, the Indianapolis Colts were on the course to sign Luck after releasing Peyton Manning, who has been let go after serving the team for successive 14 years, the full tenure of his professional league career so far.
Now Baylor College’s QB, Robert Griffin III, famously known as RG3, has also been weighed by some analysts to be a player of same calibre as Luck.
This has left Colts’ management in a fix. They have lately been finding it difficult to make their mind definite and final on selection of either player as their future’s QB.
Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, during his couple of statements, has hinted at the difficulty he is facing in making the final choice.
Lately, Colts invited Luck for a private workout session in Indianapolis. The draft player has not confirmed the acceptance of the invitation so far.
Furthermore, he has been quoted in a couple of media reports as saying that given the amount of uncertainty and confusion prevailed in the Indianapolis, he is exploring some other options such as thinking of approaching the Washington Redskins to discuss
his future prospects.
In case, Colts go for signing Griffin III, Luck will be left for the Washington Redskins, who have acquired the second overall draft pick from St. Louis Rams.
So, it has now only left for Colts to make their mind as earliest as possible, as with the draft season just around the corner, they might lose on the opportunity to come out with the best choice.
Draft season 2012 is due to start in April, and the market has recently been hit by an increased amount of hustle bustle around the draft prospects, with all stakeholders actively weighing their options.
