Question:

Fuzzy Blu Ray Picture on my HDTV?

I have a polaroid 37inch LCD tv connected to my 40gb ps3. When I play blu rays (like surfs up, pirates, spider man 3), the picture seems a little bit fuzzy. Its like its snowy. I purchased a cheap HDMI cable off of ebay. But after much googling it seems that the quality doesn't make much of a difference. But I do have a lot of things connected behind my tv. 360, ps3, video converter, surround sound, computer. Does that affect the picture quality? Any help would be great. What can I do to fix this? Or is it just my tv?

  1. No all the equipment will not affect your picture quality since you are only watching one source at a time. However, you do have to choose the proper setting in your PS3. Check your HDMI settings and be sure you are set to the maximum resolution your TV can handle. An HDMI picture should be very clear. You are correct that the cable quality should not affect your picture at all. It is digital and either it works or it doesn't. There is no half way with digital. I got a $10 HDMI cable from Newegg.com and it works fantastically.

  2. It may that the HDMI input on your TV is noisy. Lots of cheap TVs don't do a very good job in filtering digital noise.

Try to check the Picture setting of your TV.

    a) Reduce sharpening (it make noise more apparent)

    b) Use standard mode instead of Vivid

Try also Component input, you actually may get a better picture.
