Mariusz Fyrstenberg teamed up with compatriot Marcin Matkowski to play against the Indo-Pak express, Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi, in the quarter-final round of Erste Bank Open 2011 doubles title on Friday, 28th of October 2011. Overwhelming

Firing up with the doubles quarter-final, the Indo-Pak express served first and rolled down the scoreboard, 1-0. Following up with a winner, the Polish compatriots levelled up the scores right away winning game 2, 1-1. Pulling
off with another game, the Asians burned away another game, 2-1, however, was not long when the two Polish levelled up winning game four, 2-2.
Winning games on respective serve, the two sides levelled up at 3-3 and then on 4-4 before the Indo-Pak express broke down. Breaking the Asians alliance in game 9, Fyrstenberg/Matkowski took control of the match, 5-4. With just
one more game left to pocket the set, the Polish swirled away serving out game 10 and winning the set, 6-4.

to return again.
Battling out with equal strength, none of them was able to break in the first seven games and levelled up at 2-2 and on 3-3, before the Asian alliance struck back and took control. Serving out game seven, Bopanna/Qureshi broke
the Polish team capturing two straight games lead the set, 5-3.
With one more game left to level up the match scores, Bopanna/Qureshi bagged game nine to win the set, 6-3, pulling the match into an eventual tiebreaker. Polish compatriots continued with served first for the tiebreaker and served
out the first point, 1-0.
Flaring up the tiebreaker, Polish team stormed away in lead, 4-1, pressurizing the Indo-Pak express to pull back to a defensive game. Maintaining their three points lead all along, Fyrstenberg/Matkowski swirled away in lead when
they broke the Asian alliance once again to lead the tiebreaker 9-4, and served out the final point to close the match with a tiebreaker win 10-4.
Although the Asians had a stunning run at Stockholm, winning the title, they could not get past the Polish defence and lost eventually. Anyhow, with Fyrstenberg/Matkowski into the semis, the two will play against the Bryan Brothers
to battle out the final round seat of the Erste Bank Open 2011 doubles title.
