G-Oil defeat PoloSkilz to win Women Championship Tournament Finals
G-Oil defeated PoloSkilz in the final game of the Women Championship Tournament and won the title of the event being held at the International Polo Club in Wellington.
Erica Gandomcar opened the game with a fine penalty conversion and put G-Oil ahead in the way to lead. It was the only offence from the two sides, as the PoloSkilz players remained scoreless in the period.
In the second set of play, Lauren Biddle nailed a goal from the field and had it all even at 1-1. Amazingly, the defending women of PoloSkilz kept the G-Oil team off the score-board in the second round.
Gandomcar scored another goal in the third set of play and took a one-goal lead in the game. But the strikers from PoloSkilz were not sitting silently and watching the game go by. Kristi Outhier and Natascha Baecher scored one goal apiece and took the game
into their favour, 3-2.
The players from G-Oil were very committed with the game and showed an impressive game in the final set of play. Tiffany Busch scored a couple of goals while her team-mates Gandomcar and Cecelia Cochran added one score each to take their lead back. Outhier
though she connected on a penalty shot, but all the h**l broke out with the final horn and they lost the game by two goals, 6-4.
Gandomcar set the pace for G-Oil with three goals while Cochran notched a goal in the win. Due to her impressive game, Busch was named MVP of the tournament.
Speedwell defeats Catena in play-off game
In the play-off match of the Women Championship Tournament, (0-2), Speedwell notched a 7-4 victory over Catena at the International Polo Club.
Speedwell obtained a goal by handicap and doubled the tally by a field goal by Jenifer Williams. It was the only scoring in the first chukka, as Catena remained goal-less in the period.
In a powerful move, Erin Brittin and Jolie Liston of Catena scored one goal each and tied the knots at 2-2. But, the strikers from Speedwell were not sitting silently, as Angela York and William scored another two goals to retain their two points lead in
the game, 4-2.
At the start of the third set of play, York added a goal from the field while her team-mate, Maureen Brenan, converted a penalty shot to further expand the lead up to four points, Brittin scored off another penalty-shot to remain in the game, 6-3.

York was top scorer of the game with three points while Williams and Maureen added two and one goal, respectively in the win. Brittin managed two goals while Rizzo and Liston accounted for one goal apiece in the loss.
