  1. appears like a show off meeting . At certain times its like raiders meeting to justify their evil acts and certain times journalist killers meet to declare their saint hoodness.

  2. to give all the protesters something to do it seems..

if they didn't go cause trouble here what would they be doing?

what do they acheive? well at least it gets those countries togerther to discuss something, anything would be good.

  3. It is an important, if altogether depressing, meeting. At the summit, leaders like Blair, Sarkozy, Angela Merkel, and Romano Prodi met to discuss how to alleviate such catastrophes as extreme poverty around the world, AIDS in Africa, and global warming. They then proceeded to set out goals. And then the real purpose of the summit was culminated; the American delegation, under President George W. Bush, proceeded to significantly diminish the goals set and sidestep any binding commitments on global warming.

So, all in all, the purpose of the G8 Summit, year after year, is for several global leaders to constructively address issues of grave importance, commit to working towards solutions, and then have the United States diminish their work tenfold.

  4. Easy 10 points here.

The Group of Eight (G-8) is the grouping of eight of the world's leading industrialized nations: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, (the G-6, 1975), Canada (the G-7, 1976), and Russia (not participating in all events), as well as the European Union. The hallmark of the G-8 is an annual economic and political summit (G-8 Summit) of the heads of government with international officials, though there are numerous subsidiary meetings and policy research.

  5. They are the leaders of the business world.  They lead the 8 most industrialized nations.

First the Good: They get together to discuss global markets, fair trade practices, and global warming etc...

Now the Bad:  They have so much power and clout they can impact poorer countries with a signing of a pen.  They influence things like trade amongt nations, which will send waves and trickles througout everyones pocket books.  They are often known for their greed and corporate mindset.

  6. Well they got 60 billion for AIDS research in Africa didn't they?

30 billion from the US alone.

  7. I don't know.  I have only G5.
