The news item for the G8 conference statement:-

But with statements like:

"deep cuts" in greenhouse gas emissions, but differences between developed and emerging economies kept them from setting specific targets.

"It's the stalemate we've had for a while,"

What is the point?

They haven’t really achieved anything have they (and if they have at what cost?) – other than a few slap-up meals and an agreement to meet again next year for a few more slap-up meals?

  1. Shamblin You old cynic!!:)

It will take time and at the moment there is a consensus that it is unimportant and a bit of a joke really.Perhaps we will have to ask our great grandchildren the same question.

  2. cut in greenhouse gases by 2050.they have not got until then to sort it out.but i suspect these corrupt leaders all have interest in these companies.

  3. I tend to agree with Nettie it is just about the biggest quango in the world and who does Gordon Brown think he is kidding by saying we should all stop throwing less food away did you see the amount that they wasted in that banquet of their paid for not out of their pockets i suspect but the Japanese taxpayer

  4. The whole thing disgusts me to be perfectly honest...talk about the biggest Quango in the world.

How much did they say that slap up meal cost?

Never will targets for greenhouse emission be achieved though I do hope that China and other emerging nations will be more vigilant about improving safer working conditions and practices for their workforce.
