  1. as far as truckers anyone driving over 200+ miles, it should be shipped by rail, local truck drivers, i understand the need for a rally, but over the road, well you are replaceable.

2nd everyone you see driving a suv truck or big vehicle with only one person in it, go yell at them, they are the ones helping to spike the price, 2nd go yell at the city development planners, they are the ones that let outward city sprawling to progress, instead of intercity development.  so in stead of using a mass transit system, we burn more oil because the out ward sprawlers need fuel to get to and from work for their vehicle.

the problem is not all washington, look around much of the problem is also due to the public, your neighbors.  Open your eyes.

  2. "Jay P" is 100% correct.

  3. It would make a bigger impact if people boycott a particular company, like Exxon Mobile. Do that and they will have to lower their prices then others will have to follow suit. DON'T BUY EXXON MOBILE

  4. The only way to bring down the price of gas is to stop using it.

The price of gas is based on supply and demand. We have control over demand. The middle east (OPEC) has control over supply. If opec cut the supply enough. They could force the price of gas to go to $10 or $12 a gallon or more. That would shut this country down. We depend on their oil.

We have to find a way to stop using their oil!

  5. That's what I have been saying for some time now, if we boycott one oil company for 1 month, it will work because they will have to lower there prices to make room for the inventory coming in, Lets say company A is selling gas and company B is not, then company B will lower there price to beat company A price, then there are price wars between company A and B... Lets just say we try for June 1st for the boycott

  6. This has already been done many, many times.

  7. i do that i always get my gas on tuesday

  8. Striking for one day or more yet returning to the same routine of using gas and filling up on a different day will do nothing.

Of course we're on the right course now with the hybrid and alternate fuel vehicles. But people, don't forget that the US has enough in it's reserves to keep the country runing for a couple decades and I read and heard that many times, by then we can be free of dependency on gas, but don't forget petroleum is used for way too many products these days. Bottom line... alternate fuels and less dependency on plastics and petroleum products...on the other hand guess what that will lead to....oh boy, this is endless we need to find a new planet to live on, lol.

  9. please remember the gas station owners ARE NOT EMPLOYEES OF THE  OIL Companies

they are just little old mom and pop stores (with a gas station attached)  they still have to pay their employees stroke or not

    or lay them off

and these strike never work in the first place

since most people would just buy the gas day before

better yet stop driving  that woudl save YOU gas

  10. I will do you one better

I am not buying gasoline the whole month of May and most of june.

it will be 10$ a gallon in 3 years

then what are we going to do

no exxons in my state ...no one to boycott

  11. No shiite. Fortunately I am a senior living in a small town with a good ( free for me) bus system. But I am sure there are many minimum wage people who can't afford to drive to work now. And a lousy $300.00 is supposed to help them? No!

  12. Even if this worked and absolutely no one bought gas on May 2nd, do you know what the gas stations and gas companies would notice?

There would be a spike in sales on May 1st as people filled up in anticipation of a one-day strike .  May 2nd, sales would plummet, followed up by yet another huge sales spike on May 3rd as people would have to fill up again because they are now running on fumes.  The end result would be a spike in sales followed by a big dip followed by yet another spike.  However, the 3 day average would be the same as any other 3-day period.  In other words, the oil companies and gas stations would still make their profits and nothing has changed.

  13. i say we just boycott private and public motor transportation.  RIDE A BIKE!!  BOYCOTT CARS AND BUSES!
