I TOO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY GATEWAY LAPTOP -THAT A LOT OF THE POSTS CONCERNING GATEWAYS SEEM TO BE HAVING. I TOO HAVE PURCHASED NUMEROUS BATTERIES AND AC ADAPTERS BUT TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM !!! THE FEMALE PART THAT THE AC ADAPTER CONNECTS TO - INSIDE THE COMPUTER ON THE MOTHERBOARD - IS AT FAULT. IT IS EITHER A BAD PIECE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED OR GATEWAY HAS INTENTIONALLY MADE THESE PIECES WEAKER IN ORDER FOR THE COMPUTER TO FAIL AND FORCE THE CONSUMER TO PURCHASE SERVICE FROM THEM OR BUY A NEW COMPUTER. REGARDLESS SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. PLEASE JOIN ME IN FILING A COMPLAINT WITH BOTH THE BBB IN YOUR AREA OR ONLINE, AND FILE A COMPLAINT WITH GATEWAY. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD NOT EXISIT. THANK YOU !!!
I have had the same problem with TWO Gateway laptops, one of which I had less than a year (ML6714). Currently, it is supposedly being repaired. A typical repair 7-14 days. It's been over a month and the only response I get is
"I would suggest calling back in approximately 5 business days for an updated status as this is the only information we have available at this time"
