I had my GCSE english language exam today and for the unseen poem I completely screwed it up by misunderstanding the unseen poem and so wrote about the wrong things completely! it was work 27 marks. i did the other section which was 27 marks.. i think that went ok.

and there is another paper which is weighted the same as this one.

and i got a* in coursework.

but my predicated grade was an A

does anyone out there know anything about this? know an examiner/ had it happen to them? do you think i'd still be able to get an A ? i reckon out of the poetry i will get about maybe 10 marks...

thanks!

  1. hey i also did the english test ermm i found it hard but you usualy work your way around a question so im sure you will get your A and also a lot of people found it hard so they could lower the grade boundry im sure you did great good luck in the rest of your exams

  2. How do you know what you wrote was wrong? is this cos you've written different from everyone else. I did English A level and poems can have many interpretations, as long as you backed it up with evidence I'm sure you will get some marks.

  3. Did u do search for my tongue? English examiners have 2 b the kindest- my english teacher is one and she said they are. What exactly did u write about? If u compared and contrasted the poems even if u got the meaning wrong, u could still get a c or b.

  4. If it was that poem about the street them im in your shoes as well, but I got told its about the effect it has on you (which was the question) so hopefully I picked up 5+ marks.

  5. As my english teacher always says: there is never a wrong answer in english. As long as you can justify what you have wrote, and backed up what you said with relevent quotes you should be fine.

The paper was 30%, so the question is only worth 15% of your final grade so don't worry.

Also whats the Unseen poem? I did the exam today and all of them were from the anthology.

  6. omg yes..it happened to me, i just lost it confused my culture poems with poems like carol and duffy and simon armitage am very worried too i just dont know what to say...  :S
