I am currently doing a gcse music course and live in Northern Ireland. I was wondering if the solo performance peice (playing along with a backing track) you are playing has to be played excactly as it wud be straight from a particular peice of sheet music. Im asking this as i was going to play welcome to the jungle by guns n roses on guitar, and i was going to switch around different guitar parts so i can play it along to a backing track better.

Also, wud a peice like this be advisory to play, im starting to think it might be a bit complicated to play, i just want to get higher marks.

  1. In theory, yes you should follow the music as closely as it is on the score. Any improvisations or anything could be taken down as mistakes.
