GE Profile JE1660GB01 magnetron failure?

Hi,I have a 2001 GE microwave oven model JE1660BG001 which stopped working (loud hum with no heat) in 2004. Even though the magnetron appeared to pass the basic resistance test (less than one ohm across filament terminals and infinity terminal to ground) GE replaced it under warranty and that fixed the problem. Now I'm having the same problem (loud hum with no heat) but this time the microwave wasn't turned off in time and the H.V. transformer fried. I replaced the transformer but still have the same loud hum which leads me to believe the magnetron is bad again. When I tested the magnetron using the resistance test I mentioned earlier it appears to pass like the first one that GE replaced.Anyway, here's my question...Is there a better way to test a magnetron to determine if it's bad and is there a replacement magnetron that's engineered better than the original? I understand there is a high failure rate on the Samsung OM75P(31) magnetrons?Thank you in advance,
Always Broke.
