GE Side by Side Fridge Freezer. My fridge / freezer goes into defrost and all products inside go

My fridge / freezer goes into defrost and all products inside go soft. I have read some other posts and believe that I may need to adjust the defrost timer. Where is it on this model and how do i adjust it.
