My 36" bisque colored cooktop (model #JGP636CEV1CC) has been replaced four times due to discoloration (it's not quite 8 years old). The gasket beneath the cooktop and my granite countertop continually bleeds through the top, leaving a light brown colored mark around the entire parameter of the cooktop. Although my warranty has expired, GE has informed me that the model has been discontinued and they would send me a new glass top for $141 dollars. I would be required to pay for installation. While I appreciate that GE can provide me with a new glasstop, I am concerned that since it has already been replaced four times, the same problem would reoccur. I questioned GE as to whether or not that particular model had been recalled due to this problem because I find it hard to believe that I'm the only customer who had this problem and they couldn't provide me with an answer. Any advice you could provide me re this problem would be sincerely appreciated. Thank you.
