I have GE side by side and am having icemaker issues. It crushes all the ice eveb when cubed is pushed. It does however still dispense water with no problems. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

  1. maybe the switch is broken that changes the types of ice!

  2. Check to see that the ice bin is inserted correctly.  Pull the bin out and you should see a long metal rod that runs the depth of the bin.  That rod is what controls the flapper in the crusher housing to crush or leave the cubes whole.  With the ice bin out look at the back wall of your freezer and you will see a 1 and half inch square whole where that rod goes into.  Just inside that hole is a plunger that moves that rod up or down.  If that plunger doesn't move freely, it is possible that the solenoid controlling it is frozen.  Just hit that area with a hair dryer and it should free that up.  If that checks fine, you could have a bad crush/cube switch or the crusher housing is bad.
