GE tFX26KR side by side leaks water onto floor

Question

bottom of freezer compartment collects water.

once this fills and freezes, more water spills onto floor

drain at back of compartment (higher than floor) does not have frozen water near its mouth - how can it be plugged? regardless, how do I make sure it's clear? don't I risk damaging a plastic drain with a metal ~sharp probe?
