Just so everyone knows who hasnt been updated yet:
The Army recently passed a new policy that allows you to join the Army without a GED or HS Diploma PROVIDING you score a certain amount on the ASVAB (I forgot the score but I know it is above 50).
The only catch is that you do not quallify for an en-listment bonus if you choose this option.
Unless you are in a hurry, it is more worthwhile to have the Army pay for you to take the GED test considering it only takes 15 days to get the results.
My husband just left on Tuesday (13th) and while he was waiting for the results the recruiter informed him of the new policy and since my husband scored high enough he was able to leave. He chose not too, however, since he had already taken the test and the results were expected any day. He wasnt in a hurry and would have rather had his $7,000.00 bonus. Good thing he waited because the test results came the next day and he left a week later.
The new policy came into effect due to there being a shortage for soldiers since the war, they really struggled for enlistments for qualified candidates so they lowered their standards a little to accomodate, but of course, without having to pay out a bonus.
I was just letting everyone know about this since I know a lot of people have this question and seeing as the policy is so new, not a lot of people know about it yet.
