GED and H.S. Diploma in California?

I just saw my results and I passes my GED!!! Yay me!

Anyway, I was wondering... Say I have time sometime in the future to go back to adult school and get a high school diploma... Will it count since I already obtained my GED? Can I have both and will they both be valid?

Thanks!

  1. Yes, you can but community colleges and universities only require one or the other. However, In order to receive a high school diploma, you must complete coursework as dictated by your school district.

I just took my GED on Monday (still waiting to the results). But, personally, I think since you've already got your GED going for a high school diploma is a lot of extra work and effort for something you've technicially already received. I can tell you right now, colleges and unis definitely don't care which one you present.
