Question:

GED compared to a HSD?

Right now, it's right before my senior year starts. I've been dropped out since half way through sophomore year, but have taken a few courses online. Still, I'm pretty sure it'd take a miracle for me to graduate on time. Therefore I'm thinking about getting a good paying job(save up for college) and waiting for my birthday in march and then get my GED. I know most colleges accept this inplace of a HSD but I'm still a little nervous. I just need advice as to if this is a good plan and all that fun stuff.

  1. GED will get you into a college but you might not have many choices.  There are thousands of kids graduating and it has become very competitive and selective.  If you are going to take the GED, try to take the SAT as well.

Personally, I have a similar experience as you.  I dropped out of high school not finishing freshmen year and took the GED.  I went to a junior or community college (2year).  Upon graduation, I got into Northeastern University's business program because I got a 3.3GPA in Accounting.  I think for those and I who did not study much in high school can really benefit from a community college.  And, the tuition is a lot cheaper.  2 years out of 4 years of studying in college, is basically all liberal arts classes.  Meaning if you go to a community college and take a introduction course in business management or the first level English course, another kid in a private school is getting the same education but paying $3,000 for one course.

If I were you, I would compare both sides and look at it in the long run.  You only graduate high school once in your lifetime.  When you apply to jobs, even 10 years later, they will ask if you took the GED or official graduated.  Think wisely, and good luck to you!
