Have a grandson that has dropped out of school because of personal reasons. Does anybody have any suggestions of programs or related church schools he could attend? We live on the north side of Beltway 8 and 45.

  1. I don't know what the rules are in Texas, but in my state you can take the GED if a principal will sign verifying that a student has not been in school for 6 months. Some states require you are graduation age. You can check on this from a local community college. At least this would give him a high school equivalent diploma, which one can hardly do without

My son dropped out for personal reasons also. He brought me the paperwork he needed signed before taking the test. I told him I would get the necessary signature if he promised to enroll in the community college. He will soon graduate with his Master's degree. The first couple of college years were rough because he kept expecting high school behaviors from everyone else.

My colleague's son was gifted and had done the same thing and apprenticed himself to a plumber. Now he works for the biggest company in a nearby state in charge of new constructions.

Community colleges also usually offer vocational certificates in many areas.

He is very young to have to start working full time.
