so do u think i should just go ahead and get my GED?

and can i get it now?(im turning 18 in 3 months..... will "they" allow me?)

can i study for the GED now and in 3 months when I turn 18, can I take the test?

  1. Stay in school and get the education and skills you will need to compete in today's job market.  Please take the following sentence seriously.  THE JOB MARKET TODAY IS ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL.  You will need marketable skills or you'll be in a world of hurt.  Perhaps a four-year college is not your preference or is not a possibility for you.  In that case, you can get get a trade such as mechanic, carpenter, plumber, or electrician -- all of which are difficult to master.  Either way, this economy does not forgive the unprepared.

And don't be in such a rush to leave school.  It's not a race.

  2. Well they are both the same thing BUT and that is a big but, with high school you have many things to keep your grade up and pass and actually earn a diploma. Besides that you have a chance to get a decent scholarship and accepted to a 4 year univ. As for your situation I do not know. You need to tell yourself you have gone to school for how long, what is 2 years. For a GED you get a single shot each time you take while you also pay money. Whichever you choose you need to stick with it and i would believe if you dropped out you would procrastinate on getting your GED.

  3. Maybe you should try an online program like Penn Foster. They usually transfer credits you've already finished from your high school and you can be done much quicker with an accredited high school diploma. Of course it doesn't have quite the same respect as a brick and mortar high school but you can go to college and everything with it.

I'm currently a student myself but I have a friend who finished and she's doing very well. She's been in college for about 3 years and she's planning on becoming a veterinarian.

The price range for this program is cheaper than most out there. about $1,200 compared to $2-3,000.

A GED would be cheaper and you can do things. I was planning to get a GED until recently. Someone told me a GED would be better but I've done research and most people think otherwise. In my state You only have to be 16 for 3 months and have your parents permission (if underage) to get a GED. You take a practice test and if you pass you can schedule the real thing. If you fail they give you free classes to learn what you need. These usually last about 6 months and only cost if you need more than like 4 of them. The cost to get a GED is $40. It consists of 5 sections. Math, Reading, Science, English, and History. Mostly 9th grade stuff very easy. If you fail a section you can take only that section for $10 extra. If you fail twice you have to wait a year to retake it. It really isn't hard though. I've passed the practice tests. With a GED you can go to a community college and  transfer to a university also most work places accept it now. You could become a CNA or a Cosmetologist with it too. Most technical training courses accept it.

Keep in mind this is my state. Check your own board of education for information about your state's requirements.

Thats about all there is to consider.I hope i've helped some.

Btw, maybe if you do decide to go the penn foster route you could let me refer you though? I get 50 dollars off and that's a major help these days.

Good luck! Congrats for wanting to finish!

  4. i have a GED and it seems like a logical thing to do but it isnt. i see all kinds of jobs now that i would like to have that are diploma only. employers like to see that you can stick to something and that you really have the education not just pass a test.  get your diploma!
