I USE AN APPLE LAPTOP WITH OSX LEOPARD, BUT WOULD LIKE TO USE THE MICROSOFT WINDOWS PARALLELS PROGRAM. I'M PRETTY SURE THAT MACS ARE VIRTUALLY IMMUNE TO VIRUSES, UNLIKE THE PC. SO MY QUESTION IS, IF I RUN XP ON MY MAC, AM I JUST AS VULNERABLE TO VIRUSES AS IF I WERE USING A PC?

  1. A windows virus won't be able to interfere with the mac OS, since the virus code would be incompatible with it.

  2. Yes. It's not the hardware that's prone to viruses but the software. Viruses are made for Windows OS so you are still capable of being infected by a virus.

  3. If you are using a dual boot, and if you are accessing your windows via MAC OS than there is a possibility only your windows get infected only if there is a windows virus some where in your mac os.

  4. You cant run XP on an Apple machine.

  5. Everyone is right here if you get virus on windows it will not infect the mac and vice versa.  And don't say that macs are immune to viruses infact mac has the a lost less security then windows offers.  It is just that most people that create virus's and spyware do it for windows. So Mac has nothing better in that since so you still need to be careful.
