After being at home for 17yrs caring, I've taken the plunge and booked a holiday abroad for a week. It has just dawned on me that I am due on my period that same week. I get really heavy periods and am not pleased that my week abroad will be spoilt by leaking - especialy if wearing a bikini!! I've always used tampons - can anyone recommend any really good absorbant reliable tampons to use please. I'm gutted now.

  1. I use Tampax super absorbent.

However, there are things you can get from the doctor to postpone your period! So it might be worth doing that, as that will help you enjoy your holiday more.

As for going swimming if you do have to be on your period whilst on holiday, i'd definitely go for super absorbent tampons. You'll have no problems though, i've done it many times! Just make sure you take some pain killers to help with the pain of the cramps :)

  2. The tampax pearl is nice, but I haven't seen them on sale in the UK, only the US, I could be wrong though. There is another option, you can obtain from your GP, it's called Northisterone (progesterone) and can be taken to defer your period.

  3. take pills

  4. You can take the pill to delay it but be warned, I did that on my last holiday and it didn't stop it completely and I felt rubbish too.

  5. use tampax heavy, you can get them with a little plastic skirt now to stop leaks, and stop the string gettin dirty.

if you buy a morning after pill and take it theres a 5050 chance it will make you have your period early.

i do that when im due on on holiday.

good luck, and have a nice holiday =D

  6. go 2 the dr and ask 4 the pill or somthing 2 delay ur period. me and my mom had this a few yrs ago but i cannot remember the name of it.

dont worry luv, jus have a great time. xxxx

  7. I really can't believe, that people advice you to take pills, to postpone your period. One even advices to take the morning after pill! These are strong medications and s***w up your whole body and hormon balance! Please don't take hormons to postpone your period. Especially not the morning after pill, which is meant for abortion. You can have bad side-effects of them.

I would suggest, that you try to use a menstrual cup. Those cups are made of silicone and it is comfortable to swim with them. Also they can stay inside for 12 hours and take a lot of blood, so that you don't have to change or clean them often.

  8. Don't panic! Go to the doctor and he/she will prescribe you pills to delay your period xx
