  1. No significant melt off is occurring during winter, and it is still winter in Greenland.

Last Summer there was a significant melt around the south and east coasts, as viewed from sat elites.

We sill not be able to see much that is new and shocking until late June. About then we can start to  hazard a guess as to how far melting will proceed.

  2. The "scientists" have only been able to measure anything for a hundred years or so. They have no reliable info on how the earth behaved for the last couple thousand years. Don't get sucked into believing their theorys.

  3. I was recently privileged to be a part of a lecture on Climate Change. This was given by a gentleman who had nothing to gain or lose by giving information.

The Earth is warmer by far than in the past 100 years or so. That is a fact. The ice tundra of Alaska is melting at an alarming rate. That is a fact. Go to NASA website and type in ice bergs and polar caps and you can SEE on Film the breakdown of the ice.

The lecture didn't prove beyond a shadow of a doubt of what is causing excess carbon dioxide to warm our atmosphere, but it is warming up, and if we do not halt our human generated emissions greatly Today, we are going to be on volatile globe.

  5. "The Greenland ice sheet is melting three times faster today than it was five years ago, according to a [2006] study.

The finding adds to evidence of increased global warming in recent years and indicates that melting polar ice sheets are pushing sea levels higher, the authors report."

  6. glenda w. you are a moron.  as to your question though:: the ice sheets are melting.  that's about the extent to which my local paper covered it.  sorry i can't be of more help.

  7. I agree on the whole fact that Global Warming is becoming a threat to our planet.

I believe in the words of the greatest scientists. Our planet is becoming a more dangerous place to live in... Our forests are burning, our resources are becoming more scarce, The sea is not a healthy place again, everything in nature is being destroyed.

Who knows what will occur in the next 20 years or so to come.

We must put a stop to it.

  8. First, let's start with a brief history lesson of Greenland.

The norse inhabited Iceland during the medieval warm period. They established farming and settlements. Then name Greenland was used to describe the green fields (also, may have been used to lure more settlers).

The Little Ice Age followed and forced the Norse off the island (unable to grow food). The Inuits claimed the land and lived there. During the Little Ice Age, the glaciers advanced.

During the modern warming period, the glaciers are again retreating. Current melting has uncovered some of the previous Norse settlements.

Conclusion, sure the glaciers are melting. But they are always expanding and melting. We can not stop them. The rate of melting has been consistent throughout the recent 100 years of melting.

AGW Crazies would like us to think that the glaciers have been the same size for ever. This is a complete lie. For most of the earth's history, there were no glaciers on Greenland.

  9. While the earth has been warming over the recent past, it is a result of the natural cycles of warming and cooling.  Human activity has had little or no effect on it.  This view is held by the vast majority of scientists who study weather.  In the early 70's we were being warned about global cooling.  During the time of the Vikings' occupation of Greenland, it was so warm they were growing strawberrys, and they didn't have greenhouses.  So don't sweat it, and don't get taken in by the doomsayers.  Their hidden agenda is strictly political.
