GM Kenny Williams appreciates Don Cooper’s role in the Chicago White Sox – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox general manager Kenny Williams has stated that he has an enormous amount of trust on pitching Coach Don Cooper, who was essential for their franchise when the entire management started looking for a new manager.
Williams believes that Cooper helped him the team considerably when the organisation was busy looking for a potential new manager for the White Sox after Ozzie Guillen parted ways due to poor performance in the 2011 season.
Kenny was very confident when he recently gave an interview to a renowned newspaper where he acknowledged Cooper’s contribution as the White Sox management decided that they are going to appoint inexperienced Robin Ventura as new team manager.
Williams said, “As much as I have confidence in Robin and his ability to grasp that aspect of it, I told him handling a pitching staff is the most difficult thing to do, w. I asked if he wanted a more veteran guy sitting next to him. He said, ‘No, I want
Mark Parent.’ After talking to Mark and getting to know him, I realized he’s going to be a major league manager.”
These remarks of Kenny Williams’ for Don Cooper certainly will help the other coaching staff as well to get appreciation that is related to an individual’s equal amount of effort on the field and off the field for the team. During Cooper’s tenure as the
White Sox pitching coach, the team has showed tremendous improvement over the past several years. He is the main person behind bringing Jose Contreras’, Jon Garland’s, Bobby Jenks’, Matt Thornton’s and Sergio Santos’ talent on the big picture of Major League
Baseball.
According to Cooper at the end of the 2011 regular season, the White Sox will be an entirely different team and people will love that change. These comments instantly sparked in the media, in fact the baseball world is already noticing the different changes
that the White Sox management is carrying out and the introduction of new faces will help stir the team for a potentially successful regular season.
