GM Lou Lamoriello proud of New Jersey Devils team for Playoff Performance -NHL Update
New Jersey Devils were one of those teams that entered the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs as underdogs and are now one of the favourites heading into the Eastern Conference Final series, something which is more than enough a reason
for general manager, Lou Lamoriello, to celebrate and congratulate his team.
The veteran GM came out on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, and told his team to be proud of themselves for what they have accomplished so far and certainly sounded optimistic about the up and coming series against either New York Rangers or Washington Capitals.
"We felt like we had a couple of teams in between that had the ability to do that and didn't get it done," Lamoriello said in a telephone interview. "That's the most important thing you always impress upon everyone - how difficult it is today to get here.
With the parity, there are 30 teams competing to get here and this group today should feel real good about themselves and what they have accomplished."
It looks like Lamoriello can relax in knowing that his decision to hire Peter DeBoer as their new head coach earlier in July of 2011 was a good one.
"There is no question this team has come together, but it has been together all year long," said Lamoriello. "There has been an incredible chemistry."
Lamoriello has seen a lot ever since joining the Devils franchise back in 1987. His record goes from witnessing the Devils win 10 division titles and four conference championships and going back to their playoff winning ways after being ousted from the playoffs
in 2011, he knows he is doing everything right.
Entering as the sixth seed and playing against a heated team like the Florida Panthers, New Jersey was sure of going out early, but as veteran goalie, Martin Brodeur, put up a good fight with his experience and hot line-up, Devils got back with a Game 7
victory.
The quarterfinals might have been a shake up for New Jersey but the semi-finals was even better as they ousted a team like Philadelphia Flyers in just five games and are looking to continue their dominating run.
