yesterday my truck light said it was low on coolant. then 5 minutes later it showed over heat on the counsel. so I ran home it barely made it. i popped the hood and there are two hoses from the bottom of the block that go up to the firewall. one of the hoses has a white plastic connector that broke off. what do i ask for at the auto store to buy. do i get the entire hose or what it kind of looks that way.

  1. The white thing is probably the water heater valve that allows water to pass when the heater is on.

  2. Those are heater hoses.  Take the clamps off that hold the white plastic in and remove the broken pieces.  Take it to the part store and get a new one.  I agree it may just be a splicer.  You could replace the complete hose and not use a splicer in that case.  It depends how hard it is to get at both ends of the hose, but if the hose seems old you may be better off replacing it or it will be the next thing to break.

  3. Not sure, but i think you are talking about a heater hose. If the plastic piece is just a splice just buy a new one. Inspect the hose where it connects to the plastic piece, if it is in bad condition you might want a new hose or if there is enough slack just trim the ends and put in a new piece.
