Question:

GO GREEN Ideas?

My school is doing auction baskets and our grade's subject is "Go Green Basket". I'm very environmental and my teacher thinks that our subject is kind of stupid because there's not many things that you can put in the basket. Please give me more than one idea because I really want to prove her wrong!

  1. CFL bulbs, VOC paint, Solar outdoor lights

just to name a few im pretty sure some other people who can add to the list

  2. Check out this site: http://greenhome.huddler.com/products

The categories that probably will be most helpful to you are light bulbs, cleaning products, and faucet aerators (those are under showerheads and faucets).  You might also consider reading this wiki which has other good ideas:

  3. seeds! this sounds silly but put packets of things like cress and beensprouts in there. theyre so easy to grow and kids love them.

    an energy efficiant lightbulb?

a notebook made from scrap bits of paper. office paper is great for this and you can use those green ties to tie them together or even just a staple would work. put a front page on saying its made by 100% recycled paper.

    :)

  4. A cloth shopping bag to replace all those paper and plastic bags.

  5. You go girl! I want to help the enviroment too and I hope I help to prove your teacher WRONG!!!!! Anyway, here are my ideas: one of those ''green'' lightbulbs,  a ''green'' book, a ''green'' calender, a list of ideas in a green box, green clothes that say ''GO GREEN!", at Claires they have these bracelets that they say are ''green'', and they are cheap and cute, a ''green'' solar iPod charger, some small solar panels, some plant seeds, a gardening kit, some ''Go Green'' magazines(from recycled paper of course), a pack of recycled paper, some recycled jewelry or bags, and I'm sure you can find some ideas online. I REALLY hope I can help and leave a comment saying how it went. If you want to REALLY make your teacher sweat, make everyone in the class get one of these items. I hope you have a fun auction! I hope I helped!!!!!!!!!

  6. How about seeds? You could put in small stainless steel water bottles. You could put in a pamphlet about local recycling options. You could give out coupons for local green businesses like garden stores etc. Cloth bags are good they also have cloth bags especially for produce instead of using the plastic produce bags in the grocery store. You could put in any product that is made from recycled plastic. You could put in recyclable toothbrushes.

  7. How about putting in products from environmentally friendly businesses! It will also promote buying environmentally friendly products :)

Seeds for a tree (especially good if done near Arbor Day)!

Sneak in a little magazine like The Ecologist or The Wildlife Conservation Magazine.

Here are some links to environmentally friendly body care products: http://www.ecomall.com/biz/body.htm

These are a bunch of completely random but useful things to stuff in there including pencils, water bottles, key chains, frisbees... http://www.motivators.com/Promotional-En...

Add in a tiny brochure (made of 100% precycled paper - also add in a note at the bottom to "please recycle the paper when throwing it away") with some little fun facts and tips like how big our land fills our, turning off the water when brushing teether, shorter showers, how to recycle properly ... add in a link to a website of your school's club or of any website with tips!!

    Hope this helps!

  8. Seeds ($1-2), CFL lightbulbs($3), reusable water bottle made of corn ($6), a reusable shopping bag ($1-$10), The Lorax book by Dr. Suess (not sure on the price) or The Wump World. Both are children's stories regarding the care of the environment. Good luck!
