  1. you need to be well informed to invest-dabbling on a whim won't get you anywhere

  2. I myself think gold is an excellent investment right now.  It will hold value against inflation better than almost anything else.

You can learn a lot about gold at kitco:

    http://www.kitco.com

If you want to physically hold the gold, visit coin shops near you.  Many sell so-called "bullion" coins;, they are not rare, their value derives from their weight in gold.  Krugerrands are good examples, although many countries mint them.

  3. Why would anybody buy gold? If you want to have exposure to gold or any other metal just do like a normal investor and buy futures. Just visit http://www.independentinvestor.co.uk and choose the cheapest spread betting or CFDs account, then you can buy gold futures or take rolling daily bet. It's up to you.

  4. you dont want to buy GOLD. gold is a terrible investment... look at the returns on investment over the past 20 to 100 years.. they barely average 5 percent, just over inflation.. way to risk your money to be average.. look into mutual funds and you will average 10-12 percent over 20 years.
