GPS Navigation System

Question

I was looking at buying one of the gps navigation system at the local walmart do you have to down anything off of the internet for these devices or can you just hit the road plug it in and tell it where u want to go and it will tell you how to get there.

big thing is see what maps it has, I bought mine with maps from 2006, It wasn't a big deal but some of the new streets and road changes was not on it, Again it was no big deal because after a while it kicks in and tells you where to go, It might be a problem if their were major changes like the big dig in boston, Besides that, pretty much plug and play
