GR-DX300U Digital Video Camera snapshot(picture) question..?

Question

I just got this camera from my dad and i've been taking pictures with it so far and most of the pictures come out almost in black and white. I think its casue of the flash because when i try to cover up the flash with my finger, the picture comes out in good quality.. sometimes... basically, my question is, how do i turn the flash off./..
