  4. At his best Gooch would have walked into any World Batting XI.The barrel-chested, mustachioed opener was without doubt at his best against India in the 1990 Lord's Test.On his way to a record 333, he punished the bowling with a mixture of brilliance and defiance. In the second innings he went onto score 123, becoming the only batsman to score a triple hundred and a hundred in the same match. He also scored the world record aggregate of 456 runs in a single match.

  5. First ? = "triple century"

    Second ? ="century"

  6. 300 and 100

  7. He scored a record 456 runs in the Lord's Test against India in 1990, 333 in the first innings and 123 in the second. As of 2006, this is the only instance in any first-class cricket of a batsman scoring 300 and 100 in two innings of the same match, and his aggregate of 456 for the match remains a world record for a Test match

  8. He scored a triple century (333)  in 1st innings and century in 2nd innings. He is the only player in any first class match or a test match to do so. He did it against India in 1990. Indian captain won the toss & elected to field-the decision was criticised all over the world. In reply to England score of 604, India were 382/9. Kapil Dev scored 4 sixes of 3rd 4th 5th & sixth ball of over & India saved follow on. So England got a chance to bat again & Gooch sored 123. India lost the match.

  9. 333 & 123 against India.   ok.
