  1. Others are right - Brittany was "Little Britain" so Britannia was called "Great Britain". We used to be great though; engineers, inventors and industrialists, the Empire, etc.

  2. no one forces you to stay. you are free to leave.

  3. *******, Chips and Mushy Peas.

Just so any Americans don't get hissy about *******, they are a Black Country delicacy.

Just in case any PC idiots are reading, The Black Country is an historic part of the Midlands within Great Britain.

  4. The name "GREAT Britain" isn't anything to do with it being "Great".  It simply distinguishes the larger of the two islands in the British Isles (ie the one with Wales England and Scotland on it) from "Lesser" or "Little" Britain, which is Brittany (Bretagne).

People are under the wrong impression about this name.  Its a geographical description, nothing more.

As for whats Great about it, well it used to be an amazing country before it was ruined by the likes of Maggie Thatcher and New Labour.  It will be so again, God Willing.

  5. Our civil and religious liberties.

  6. Yes your all right, this government is trying to kill off both a great country and it's people, with immigrants, ignoring our common laws, we have Aspartame in soft drinks, Fluoride in our tap water, Insecticides on our food, we have Codex Alementarius, Mercury in our vaccines, Biotech, Chem trails, etc, etc.

  7. England,

Britain is England, Scotland & Wales,

    Nothing wrong with the Country,

It's Gordon Brown & this Labour Government,

  8. Hmmmmmm, let me think.....

A submarine from Great Britain captured the enigma machine during WWII, which many people (knowledgeable historians, not general ignorant people) credit with leading to the end of the war two years earlier than it would otherwise have ended.

Great Britain is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. And it is a lot more tolerent, and a lot less racist, than the USA.

Great Britain had an empire that covered ONE QUATER of the world. A pretty great achievement, surely. And it hasn't just abandoned it's ex-colonies. Through the commonwealth we support and assist the countries we have been allied with for, in some cases, hundreds of years.

Great Britain stepped in and helped America wage it's war on terrorism, helping to reduce terrorism around the world, and bringing to justice some of the most wanted people in the world, who were responsible for terrorism across the world, including the 9/11 hijackings.

Great Britain's parliamentary system has been copied across the world, and is the basis of many modern governments.

It was in Great Britain that the Magna Carta was signed, giving all men and women the right of Habeous Corpus for the first time. This is now a right expected by every member of the free world.

Great Britain has turned out some of the best inventions of recent times. The British invented the lightbulb a full ten months before Edison. Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone, lived in Great Britain until he was 23, before moving to Canada and then the USA. Oh yeah, and we also found America 300 years before the Italians.

And what about Issac Newton? William Shakespeare? Jane Austin? Captin Cook, Cromwell, David Lloyd George, Churchill, Admiral Nelson, J R R Tolkien??

What about William Wilberforce who ended slavery? I'm sure you would agree that was a great thing.

oh yeah, and that rather well-known genius Stephen Hawking....

Many medicines that have saved millions of lives were invented in Great Britain, such as the vaccine, which has probably saved idiots like you from dying of TB or smallpox.

BUT none of that is why is it known as Great Britain, though I wouldn't expect you to know that. It was originally Britainnia major, i.e. greater britain, to differentiate between what we now call Brittany.

But still, I think the above, only a small portion of what they have done, is enough to be worthy of the name Great. There are plenty of other things they have done, though I doubt you'd listen, many of which have directly impacted upon, and improved, YOUR life.

    That's gratitude for you.

  9. It's proven history of being able to win through, despite overwhelming odds against it ...............................

\Which hopefully, it will do again, once TRUE British people wake up to the way in which it's indiginous culture and society are being erroded away by successive waves of immigration, economic migrants, pathetic and corupt government and an attempted takeover of sovereignty by the United States of Europe !!

  10. Dave H, I could hardly have put it better myself. What no one has been able to do by force for centuries, the grey men are doing with lies, subterfuge and the traitors within our midst - otherwise known as successive governments, but particularly the scottish one that has been stabbing us in the back for the last ten years - but we're such polite souls we don't like to mention it.

We've been lied too and fobbed off for many years. We have and are still being, swamped by an invasion that was invited without our consent and we've seen our culture disrespected and derided and all but made illegal, while all other cultures must be respected and given preference or else you're deemed as racist even if that had nothing to do with it.

They're doing it to all the old countries. Mix and match until they have one vast empire to rule over, with no nation states to stand against them. Isn't that exactly what Hitler was trying to do, but with the bullet instead of lies, compulsion and propoganda?

Where I live the pavements have been apparently renewed courtesy of europe. Funny, but I thought Britain contributed vastly more than it gets back. So we give them a hundred pounds, they buy us a paving stone for ten pounds, and we're supposed to thank europe for all the park improvements and such, which we could have afforded to do ourselves if we hadn't squandered so much of our national product on europe. Where, by the way, the vast majority of the cash is wasted, paid out in bloated salaries and expenses, or removed by, shall we say, other means.

If people would just look at the world honestly and see past all the bullshit and twisted words that our politicians spew daily, they would see that much more is going on behind the scenes. There are handshakes happening behind closed doors that we know nothing about, why else have they refused us a vote on europe for so many years? Why are they so desperate to drive it forward that the "common market" we voted to join, is now looking to creating a european army and renaming the English channel and still they deny us a vote!

I voted no to the common market and all the subterfuge that has gone on since has confirmed my instinct that the whole thing is wrong. If they had given us information and trusted our judgement, but they didn't and they wouldn't and they won't, because a vote the wrong way would interfere with the reasons for those handshakes I mentioned earlier.

I don't know exactly what's going on, but I'm sure as **** something is slithering in the grass....

    Wakey wakey all!!!

  11. I notice Gordon Brown's initials are GB!Isn't it about time some one put something Great into Him??

  12. the greatest thing about Great Britain, is of course, ME!!!

i think your just jealous lol

  13. fish and chips-

  14. The folks that take your question seriously; it would seem that we are supposed to subsist on a diet of soap operas, football and political lies - we're not all like that Mr Brown!

  15. It was called great as it was bigger than Brittany. It has nothing to do with being better then anything else.

  16. Well, today’s world is pretty much the legacy of this "Great" nation.

There are many bad things and also many good.

Everything is up for debate. But to insinuate that nothing good ever came from Great Britain is plain ignorant.

  17. its reasonably easy to escape it

  18. The Mother of all Parliaments and the House of Commons.
